"Everyone always comments on how great toms sound through the CEMC-6's. They are lively, athletic and dynamic in a way few other condenser microphones are on high SPL sources. You know you are doing something right when Tom Brechtlein says, "Wow, what microphones are those?!"

For the 22 47 SE, I kind of cheated and put in NOS RCA tube, making it a 22 47 LE, in effect.
I am fortunate enough to have a small stockpile of these old tubes, and found that the microphone sounds great with either the factory Peluso tube or any number of NOS tubes.
The microphone performs fantastically on vocals, acoustic guitar, cello, saxophone, you name it. It has a rich and warm bottom that isn't hyped, and enough detail and character in the top end to completely avoid any unnecessary processing after the fact. I can't wait to make it a stereo pair!"

"The R 14 is such a great sounding mic. I've used it on vocals, guitar cabs, drum room, violins, as a stereo pair for ensembles, the list goes on. It's a really versatile mic and will take high end EQ boosts really smoothly, without sounding harsh or tinny. I've been using them on guitar cabs lately to get some really great distorted guitar sounds that are extremely full-bodied and present. The R14 is also a great choice on harsh sounding instruments like glockenspiel or trumpet, making them fit into the mix in a much more comfortable way."

I think that we had made only three or four videos before I reached out to Peluso Microphone Lab and asked them to be the title sponsor for our series. I was actually pretty shocked when they said yes! Since then, we've worked to earn their trust and to make a series worthy of bearing their name. As I write this, we've posted 75 videos and the series remains one of my favorite creative outlets. The team at Peluso is talented beyond measure and they could not have been more generous and supportive.

"One of the dirty little secrets about u47s is that they rarely sound consistent. Older ones sound burly and muddy, while another mic from the same manufacturer and year is a sonic masterpiece. All the newer clones may be a bit more predictable, but they often lack the vintage vibe that makes you reach into your mic locker in the first place. The 22 47 LEis the perfect middle ground. Warm, pristine high-end, a subtle, pronounced upper-mid, and a well-articulated, usable low-end––and that's what you can expect every time you power on the mic."

"I love the 22 47 SE on pretty much any source I've put it on. Acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, "both" male and female vocals, cello etc... It creates a lush rich sound, and helps capture the true sound of the instrument. This mic teamed with the P-84 is a magical pairing for acoustic sources."

"The P-84s are great mics! Very balanced response. The lows aren't boomy, and the mids and highs are smooth and pleasing. Having a pair of these gives you a great stereo image for any source, room or instrument."

On the Recording of Old Yellow Moon:
'I used the P-12 on Rodney Crowell's acoustic guitars throughout, altering the pattern to capture the amount of wood required.
The 22 47 SE's were used constantly on the drums, from Glyn John's classic spread to tom closeups, always modifying the patterns. They seem to like cymbals!'

The CEMC-6 is as versatile as it gets. Whether they're being used for drum overheads in a live set up or in the studio, the smooth response tames the brittle timbre of any hit-hat or crash all while bringing out the punch of the kick drum & toms but most notably highlighting the warm, natural resonance of a snare drum. Throw a CEMC-6 on an acoustic guitar in the studio & you'll be immediately impressed by the 'true to life' sound that'll come out of your studio monitors on playback. So much so that adding or subtracting EQ will become a thing of the past.

"I did record a bunch of mandolin tracks tonight and just for fun replaced my normal favorite combo U87 and km 184 set up with the 22 47 LE and the km 184 and was totally excited by the results!! I totally didn't expect to like it so much better on mando. I always used the Neumann U47 on vocals, guitar and bass when I had that here in the studio and never tried it on mando. The 22 47 LE gave the mando much more depth and tactle voice qualities than the U87. Pretty cool!"

"I just wanted to say those P84s sound GREAT!! We did an A B session with the 184's and there's hardly a worthy comparison. The P84s sounded much fuller and sweeter."
