‘Tater Patch Recording Studio

After a career as a Vocal Arranger and Background Singer for some of the greatest artists in the history of Country Music, Lea Jane was searching for just the right vocal mic for her studio. She took advantage of an opportunity to demo some of the world’s top microphones, and then conferred with some of the top ears in the business!

On a recent trip to Nashville, Lea Jane Berinati-Burie and Dale Burie were out to dinner with their friends Ricky Skaggs and family. During the meal, the topic of conversation came around to microphones, and they discussed Neumann, AKG, and others. Ricky called his studio manager, Lee Groitzsch, and asked him to set up their best microphones for Lea Jane to come by in the morning and try out for comparison.

Lea Jane is not new to the studio environment. Very familiar with listening to microphones, wearing headphones while recording, and also being blessed with “perfect pitch,” Lea Jane is keenly aware of the different sounds produced by studio mics. After sampling some of the best microphones Ricky had in his studio, she was particularly fond of his Peluso 22 251 model, modified to employ a Telefunken tube. She now uses the Peluso 22 251 in her ‘Tater Patch Recording Studio.

Toured extensively with The Earl Scruggs Review as pianist/vocalist, and also with Guy Clark.

Former owner of Rotation Records, Nashville, Tennessee.
Produced Music for U.S., Australian, and German music markets.
Hosted Talent Show and Songwriter’s Café at the Broken Spoke, Nashville, for 11 years.
Managed the Nashville New Faces World Tour in Germany for 2 years.
Managed Wayne Horsburgh, Australia’s Member of the Roll of Renown (similar to our Country Music Hall of Fame) for 6 years.
Worship Leader for Community Lutheran Church in McAllister, Wisconsin.
